Mohawk Million or "Determination" Million

This race is turning into a joke....allowing 4 Determination horses in the race.  The race is already for the Elitists and being subsidized by the other horsemen, as half the purse is coming out of the pool money of overnight races.  Why doesn't Determination just put up his own $1,000,000 dollars and race 10 of his own horses against each other. Then he can say he won a million dollar race because apparently he wants to really badly.  This isn't good for racing or the betting public. An absolute joke.

Some owners or trainers buy spots hoping their horse is good enough to make it, but some end up selling their spot for way less than the $100,000 they originally paid.

Actually this year it was only $50,000 per slot not the normal $100,000 per slot and the rest comes from mohawk purses so thats why the horsemen should care. I guess only the select few get to race for that money.

For all the $$$ Serge has invested he is entitled to try to get some of it back...Determinat ion has had some fantastic years and some not so fantastic years, but win, lose or drawn Determination is not afraid to step up and swing hard.

I had 3 horses in a SS final, the draw set it up perfect. We talked before the race. The race was a total cluster fuck, of the 3 drivers, 1, did what he was supposed to do, with the 3rd best horse, only one that got a check.

The difference is anyone can pay staking fees to put their horse into the Metro, all horsemen have the opportunity to do that.  The Mohawk Million you buy a spot and the regular horsemen can't outbid a Billionaire for those spots, so I don't think its fair that half the purse money is coming out of the horsemen's pool.  I'm sure all horsemen would love an opportunity to race for that $500,000.

Following a review of the Mohawk Million format, Woodbine has reduced the price of purchasing a slot in the race for two-year-old trotters from $100,000 to $50,000 and will offer all 10 slots in the race for purchase.

The race will continue to offer a $1 million purse with $500,000 in added money.

The winner of the William Wellwood Memorial will no longer receive a free slot in the Mohawk Million.

No matter how you slice it the Determination guy will never ever make money . His trainer, driver and staff make out great but the guy behind the money spends millions for the occasional red ribbon. Not what turns me on , I'm a fan of the underdog not the guy who spends  5 million a year to make 2 million in purses. How is that good for racing?
