Biggest Bust 2024 - TDS / Andrew Harris Babies
« on: August 11, 2024, 04:53:48 PM »
I can't think of a worst first crop than these Tall Dark Strangers.  So nice to pay 300k plus and be racing in KYSS c and d class.  Now, has anyone see anything of the Andrew Harris full brother / full sister catastrophe race and finish top three?

Many have been worse starting with Ralph Hanover and others before hm and going up to Betting Line.  TDS isn't that bad he's currently 8th in money earnings and Papi Rob is 7th.  Look at Bettors Delight with 134 foals which is way more than anyone else is 18th on the current earnings list for 2 year olds.  They are always known for late developing and it's possible that the same could happen for TDS.

Many sons of Bettor's Delight are failures. It's amazing. Bettor's Wish has a few nice ones. The Lazarus's are better with age IMO due to Christian Cullen who all get better at 3 and 4.

At this point that might not even be 100K

TDS is hardly a bust. Is he underperforming so far -- yes. Like his sire they may be late developing -- look at Nijinsky for example. Last September many were calling Greenshoe a bust -- now look at him -- 2nd. leading money winning 2yr. old sire.

many of the best bred tds( and there was many for sure) are just starting to roll out in kentucky now so lets see
considering bettors wish group of mares he is producing some decent horses

and yes andrew harris and babies may not be a great fit  at least so far

While I am sure the optics would not have been favorable, Harris conceivably could have sent the babies to Casie to break and train down. There are others too.

FYI, this has happened at Hanover Shoe Farms over the past 50 years as well as other farms!

This is nothing new in the breeding business!

If/when this happens, the owners of the stallion that get the big initial 'stud fees the first 2/3 years of the stallion's career hit the market laugh all the way to the bank whether the babies are failures or successes!
