The culling of the underachieving yearling purchases continues...a few 2YOs currently up for bids via ON GAIT:

I estimated 12 months of training @ $2,500 + $5,000 in staking

Might be way off on the estimates...

Training and Staking (Approx): $35,000
TOTAL INVESTMENT (Approx): $66,000
Total Earnings: $6,033 in 8 starts
Starting Bid: $5,000
Approx. Loss: $56,000

SEA CRUISE (c, Downbytheseaside)
Trainer: Brian Brown

Loss if any will be based on final sale price not starting bid price.

Good work I'm curious how you got this info.  Is this a report than you can generate on Pathway?

I ruined my eyesight in the 80s compiling a similar report for a few years on all yearling sales by stallions with earnings.

Someone asked recently about them.  Here are some stats on their current 2YOs.  Not sure of the trainer on one of the non starters.

Yes, it's early in the season.  Yes, not include residual value.
Yes, doesn't include training bills and stakes payments for 8-11 months.

Two thoughts:

1) AWESOME job putting this together

2) Don't walk, RUUUUN away from that hot mess

It's a tough game but those numbers are fucking terrible! They should switch to throwing darts at a board to pick the yearling next yr

I can't speak to VIP or The Stable, but at a certain point, the company's business model is not racing horses --- it's syndicating product and selling shares. If any of these companies sell this as an investment, one, they are potentially violating securities laws (unless they have massive numbers of disclaimers and doing it legally and legit).....and two, even if they are, run away from them ASAP.

These micro-shares, LP deals, whatever, are nothing more than buying an experience, providing some fun/benefits, and giving you some direct exposure to the game, albeit minimal at best. That's all. If you got some money to blow and want the experience, then it works for you. There are some legit players and bad apples, just like in any business.

Worst part is when the horse is sold, there is a commission on the sell price despite it being a loss because they claim that the horse was depreciated to 0.
