“Beach Rules”   wire to wire. 150.4! at Chester. First start. Not sure why going that fast in a NW race.

Kid from NZ needs to slow it down a little...but Yannick does the same thing and earns a ton.

Burke unveiled a killer Sweet Lou filly today at the Red Mile. Name is Looksgoodinloulou . Paced a 25 3/5 last 1/4 without breaking a sweat. Some of these are gonna give Papi Grad some real competition.

Completely agree.  Papi Grad was ready very early and looks great.  Will she hold up over the course of the season?  Lots of talent out there.

The filly she beat was Burkes Sweet Ballad which Papi Grad smoked by 9 lengths under total wraps.  25.3 home is awesome but that was off 126.2 at Lexington (52.2).  Another mare in same race paced home  in 25.4 ,6 in race went 26.4 or better.

Same day Burkes 2 yo filly Rose paced 51.1 with last quarter in 25.4 too.  She was 1.5 seconds slower then Papi Grad at Pocono last start. She is probably nicer then Sweet Ballad.

Papi Grad paced 53.2 back half first lifetime start at the Meadows.

Looksgoodinaloulo u was impressive for sure but not sure if a killer.

Senseless to compare this way.  We will know for sure when and if some of these fillies face Papi Grad.

Not a good comparison with sweet Ballad against papi grad. She had broken equipment and went inside and hit several pylons. Was placed last in that race

  • dougie: IIB, I think the mayor will sign the bill if it reaches his desk. The optics on this issue is bad for the horse carriage industry. Animal activists are adept to using the media to enlist horror and anger by the public.

  • Ignorance Is Bliss: It's now a bill with city council. Public hearings will be scheduled then the council votes on it. If passed it's sent to the Mayor to sign into law. He has already said he's in. Marte just took over, Bob Holden is the actual author of the bill who retired last year.

  • dougie: IIB, I have been reading some of the work Councilman Marte has been doing on this issue. I think he might be successful with passing the 'Ryders Law" Bill this time around. The image of the horse dead on the street has even been seen here everywhere. If the animal activists can get this on the ballot, who knows how the vote will go.
