Sam R and Old Guy, you are right on the money. The sixties were right in my wheel house. Eddie Cobb drove a couple for me. Actually, Cobb had Maida Million for the Ivanhoe Stables in N.Y. She could win on command. Late sixties, early 70's. Cobb ended up at Hollywood driving for the Nev-Cal stables after being booted from Yonkers-Roosevelt. One night at Hollywood, she was in with the likes of Adios Vic, maybe the greatest closer of the day. I didn't believe it was possible for Vic to lose so I made a good sized bet on Vic, and the real late money came in on Maida. At the top of the stretch, Vic was second over, with Cobb right behind him. I thought that one was over and it was. Cobb was five wide in the stretch and beat Vic by a length. Well maybe Cobb scored big, however he had to Maida up for what she was. That was the end of getting 5-6 to one on Maida Million.
