Monticello Memorabilia Facebook Site
« on: April 30, 2024, 08:14:34 AM »
This site is one of the only feel good harness sites in the USA. The pictures and newspaper articles bring back all the feel good times for fans. Today there is a 1967 posted page from the Times Herald, local paper, which shows attendance at Roosevelt 32,000 on a Saturday night. At Monticello 13,000 fans were there with a 9:00 P.M. first post time. What struck me in the results was how few exotic bets were available in 1967. Most races were strictly win, place and show only. What really floored me was a MR article indicating the betting lines were so long that General Manager Leon Greenberg said they needed to hire a company to design for more betting windows. 57 years forward and we ask if a total of two betting windows at MR is too many. If you have not visited the Monticello Memorabilia Facebook site you should give it a try.

Anyone who raced at or was a fan of Monticello Raceway from the 60's on, but especially the 70's and 80's will love this site. From photos to program pages to the anecdotes from the horseman, officials, and fans that weigh in.
The site brings back so many precious memories!
Great find!
Thanks!
