Look at Yonkers, cal ex, Vernon, Tioga, etc. 6 horse fields, just what the better needs. Another Racetrack,  no wonder the game is dead.

Why would any entity want to spend millions on a new harness track when every trend associated with the sport is negative? No live fans of any consequence, at any track, except on a special occasion like the Hambo. Horse population seems to be eroding. Drugging still going on. Makes no sense.

Cal expo has no slots, so you know why purses are low there.

Vernon has slots but not much action due to turning stone a hop, skip, and a jump away.

At least Tioga has slots and decent purse money.  Short fields make it better for owners, trainers, drivers, to make money.

Yonkers generally has full fields, fast horses and big purses.  Add to the fact that you have some trainers that are better than others with interesting medical programs.

Monticello has slots, 5 miles away, and their purses still stink. Additionally the facility should be condemned.

Didn't they close the slots at Monticello, so it doesn't cannibalize their other bigger venture down the road?

It's a shame what happened to Monti. I remember going there on Saturday summer nights with that open grandstand and the warm breeze, lit up water fountain still working in multicolor between races. Sunday afternoons were great with full crowds on the weekends, all the local resorts bused people in and every seat was occupied in the clubhouse. double header cards on 4th of July with fireworks after the races and John Manzi puffing on his stogie thinking up new wacky contests.
