Bettor's Delight Going to New Zealand ... Forever
« on: March 18, 2024, 12:13:54 AM »
After this season.  Going down under, not coming back. Will continue stud down there.

"After much consideration, and in consultation with Blue Chip Farms’ veterinarian Dr. Herb Burns and Dr. Andrew Grierson from Woodlands Stud, it has been decided that 2024 will be the last year Bettor’s Delight will shuttle. He will remain in New Zealand thereafter.  Woodlands Stud will provide him a home for life"

why live out his life there???? There are no nice farms here?  Who owns the horse? are a majority of the owners from down under?

He's a living legend in New Zealand, kind of like Taylor Swift.

People on other discussion forums are acting like he's being shipped off to the back 40, where he will fend for himself before ending up in a can. I don't quite understand it. He's been going back and forth for years, and I would assume NZ is a nicer climate than his Canadian farm. If he's healthy enough to make the trip, what's the difference if he retires in NA or there?

24yrs old and has still been working double duty! The money that he has generated over his years is collassel. At his age the trips back and forth must be a bit taxing for him. It would be great if he could get a few years just being a horse before the dreaded day comes! tmbz1

I'd love to jump on a plane and do some breeding in New Zealand, could probably be a top stud.
