Standardbred Canada is no better than USTA!
« on: February 04, 2024, 06:09:49 PM »
Last night's O'BRIAN Awards for the best in all categories had what I would call a questionable selection for Trainer of the year! Dr. Ian Moore! The same guy that was barred from racing in the Jug for attempting to circumvent the Detention Barn regulations! This to me is proof that there is a Burke in every crowd! No doubt that the intro proclaimed his greatness in all facets of his life and the sport. If this doesn't make the entire selection process a farce, nothing will!💉💉💉😟

If they eliminated everyone with a positive test or suspension they'd have no awards

ok, thanks
i guess the only thing he was guilty of was trying to avoid the detention barn and paid a hefty penalty in the horse getting scratched
i mean realistically they never tested or found anything in the horses blood
however if i am the owner i might have a few questions for the ole doc on why my horse got scratched out of a $1m race

I'm sure Tony wasn't eligible. Should they punish the owners because the trainer is a POS horse abuser?

Mailbox Money, great thread and great observation. Moore is more self professed than proclaimed. A true asshole in the Canadian side of the sport. But as long as you have douche bags presiding over the selections, and Gaping Assholes, and Cocksuckers at the helm of the registries in CA and US. this is what you'll get. I say its time to over throw the organizational powers that be and dis-ban they're monopolies.

Other than a couple owners and/or trainers, who really gives a crap about who wins.  On this side of the border the midnight blood draw was quieted down in a hurry.   Too bad SCM didn’t get going on that ….

To answer your question, yes they should punish the owners. Until they make the horse sit out the same number of days as the trainer it will be business as usual. Hit the owners in the pocketbook and watch what happens. Burke, Rhoades, Sillachi, and everyone else can change the named trainer but if the horse can't race problem greatly solved but thats too easy of a solution
