Sunday morning trotters from France...
« on: January 28, 2024, 09:09:34 AM »
Completely different kind of racing.  They pay 7 spots?  And it appears that races 2,5,6 are only for horses whose names begin with "J".  WTF?

PRIX D'AMERIQUE getting ready to go.  Quite a show they put on prior to the race.  And those guys don't hold back in warm ups, some of them are rolling!

All horses born in the same year race under names commencing with the same letter.  Seems very strange to me as well, but that's how the French do it, at least the trotters.   The thoroughbreds there do not employ the same policy.

Bluechip does or did it that way. I also remember a gentleman in New Hampshire and his breeding operation using this method, Mr Cray and Mountain farms.

Thanks for the info.  Yes, seems odd to me too.   tmbz1

Lots of operations use this method past and present.  Just off the top of my head I remember the Armstrong Brothers doing it in the early 70s maybe earlier.  Armbro Nesbit ... next year Armbro Omaha etc

if they had that kind of racing in north america the handle would triple at minimum
not for every race but for selected races on a card and for some stake races
