Hidden away in the Wurtsboro hills was a terrific French restaurant call La Mingatere. I probably spelled it wrong but the food was great!

Chappie's local dining spot was in the heart of town.

Best casual places to eat in Monticello were Kaplans Deli and Canton Chinese restaurants. Does anyone remember the big, fat American lady who owned the place with her Asian husband who cooked? She could be a misery. On a snowy late evening I went with a friend after the races. We only wanted some egg rolls and wonton soup. She refused to serve us because she said we didn’t order enough food to get the table cloth cleaned. We were good, steady customers. She didn’t care..lol.

The Dodge Inn completes the superfecta with Bernies, La Mingotiere, and the Homestead.
For proximity to the Mighty M, the prime rib at the House of Lyons pretty darned good!

Downtown it was Kaplans or Miss Monticello diner for me.

Outskirts I yearned for Leftys.
