Long hard shafts...

Not what your thinking Lance...  But, after the YR accident last week, would it not be safer and more practical to have a composite frame race bike opposed to metal, not just for weight but safety measures as well.

I don't believe so. In a perfect world composite frame bikes would be great--however they are expensive, and, in a crash, they shatter--which could end up being fatal in a harness horse race. I remember when wheels had carbon spokes to make them lighter and if a horse foot hit it--they shattered, collapsed-- and were banned.

Maybe we should go back to the "Single Shafts".

Why would you want one shaft when you could have two.  I’m just glad they don’t go back to wood…sometimes when a wood shaft gets wet it gets soft.

Tom Harmer is working on a new bike. I am sure it will be state of the art.

How about something simple like a seat belt to keep the driver from getting thrown.

I think sulkies would need seat belts to prevent the catapulting of a driver, but that would create a whole different set of hazards.
