Racing in Seattle 1902-Not a lot has changed??
« on: October 25, 2023, 10:35:31 PM »
Was reading a fascinating article about the development of racing over the years in Seattle, and this was a track which opened in 1902 (had both harness and TB)..BUT

"Attendance increased as the week wore on, and on Saturday 6,000 people witnessed the first annual Seattle Derby.  It was a very exciting race of a mile and a quarter, won by Royalty in a time of 2:08.  Four days after his victory in the Derby, the horse was suspended for the duration of the meet after it was discovered he had been doped to lose a race."
