The term Standardbred racing,

What does the term standardbred racing mean to you --- is there a consensus ?

It came from the time standard back in the day. The standard time for a pacer or trotter.

on the Cumberland KY web site they explained standardbred comes from "because the race standard is a mile."

Now I am not sure if I should believe the website that uses a European shot of racing on their racing page

Tell Cumberland they are wrong.
I would be impressed if they just changed the European harness picture on their site.
