Andy Miller hits 10,000 wins
« on: August 20, 2023, 04:04:46 PM »
Congratulations to Andy, the old Chicago driver. Just the 21st driver in history to hit 10,000.

And like many with 10k or more, will not see the HOF as an inductee, because of politics and bias until maybe he is dead, like Lucien Fontaine.

God Bless Harness Racing.
Remembering
Andy and brother Erv both started out as young Amish boys cleaning stalls for John Cisna.
Julie Miller a horse girl from Iowa.
Her dad raced horses at the Iowa and IL. fairs.
Picture This.
Julie comes home from an IL. fair
She says to her dad.
"Dad I met this Amish boy at the fair. Someday we will get married, move to NJ., I will be the trainer and he will win 10,000 races".
" Yes young lady. Now go upstairs and get some sleep"
I am just an old horse trainer still going around in circles. Sometimes Fast. Sometimes Half-Fast.

I am only guessing, but I think Andy is one of the very few in the 10,000 plus win list that had very little help from mom and dad.
Tetrick, Morgan, Sears, Filion, Magee , etc all came from established harness racing families.

Ironic that the horse he won with, was bumpy gated, to say the least. Half the field jumped, including the winner.

Well, as you know, it almost always trickles down from family. Billy Parker, George Napolitano, Bruce Ranger all came through family association. All of way more than 10k. Should but wont see the HOF

Sounds like the horses of Tex Moats that Andy started out driving at IL. fairs.
