When I went annually in the years pre-simulcasting - it would be shoulder to shoulder people around the track and grandstand seats would be sold out in April. Announced crowd would be 50,000Today - barely two deep around the track and a third of the grandstand empty. Announced crowd, 50,000....hmmmm I doubt it will ever get back to the previous days due to simulcasting. Still can be a heck of a show. Perhaps the million will be a draw. But I don't see entries increase greatly. With only two or three with a legit chance of winning and being top 2 in the final to see a significant amount of purse money. Many fringe horses will still bypass the multiple heat format to maybe get a share of the Elim purse, and to draw an outside post in the final for minor spoils.
i love the carneys !!!regardless of the number, still the best show for the sport
