Doug Hamilton. Always drunk as a skunk and never 1st in the barn in the morning. It was a good thing because we got more work done without him there to fuck things up!  11.wp

George Forshey - great place to work. Good horseman, good horses, great owners, good people to work with money not bad either. John Edmonds, used to supply all the beer, drank right along with grooms.

The late Doug Ackerman, also a great horseman and a wonderful human being.  I never worked for him but two of my friends (at the time) did, and they both had nothing but good things to say about him.  Doug lived in nearby Solana Beach and wintered his stable and broke his babies at Del Mar, that’s where I met and got to know him.  I’ll never forget the day when he tandem hitched two of his trotters (Noble Hustle and Noble Traveler) and went on to set what I seem to remember was a then record for a one-mile tandem trot.  It was a foggy morning at Del Mar, and out of the fog Doug emerged mid-stretch urging his pair on; it was quite a sight!  I had never seen anything like that before, or since.
