PURSES SLASHED AT YONKERS 35%
« on: February 01, 2023, 08:51:55 AM »
Curious about what is happening at Yonkers.

A year ago today. $25,000 claimer raced for $22,000, Now the purse is $14,000
$30,000 claimer raced  for $25,000, Now  the purse is $16,000
$40.000 claimer raced for $26,000, Now  the purse is $17,000
$50,000  claimer raced for $28,000, Now the purse is $19,000

Any knowledge of why the drops? Maybe saving up for more $million races?

They’ve moved purse money from claimers to conditioned classes as of reopening this year.

As it should be.

I believe the purses are usually lower when PA tracks are closed.
It is pathetic that the Monti handle is higher than Yonkers.

They are down but the purses are still great.   Yonkers is the place for money but the racing sucks the drivers drive like pussies

They always increase once the other tracks start opening. No sense in giving it away in January and February.
