If there are two sides of a story one told from Dave to another trainer was he quit. He raised issue with the seemingly same inquires on the same individuals. He made this point to management that it was wrong and needed to be changed. They said if you don't like what is going on go ahead and just quit. So he did. Whether what the real reasons are I'm sure just a few people know that are in the room. If things were leaked what is fact what is fiction? Dave turns 70 next year maybe he didn't need all the BS?

Magee stiffed more horses than Tiny Mo ever did...by a lot. When Magee started whipping on Busse and Paisley and Hiteman every night at Sportsmans he got tough on his small owners who wanted him to drive their horse. He let it be known that if he didn't get a $100 win ticket on the horse he would sit and not try hard. So many small stables gave up using Magee because the $100 was nk guarantee. At Maywood he went dead in the Brian Pelling fix but the stewards didn't want him implicated.

HOOSIER HAS A HARD TIME KEEPING RACE OFFICE EMPLOYEES AND JUDGES. IT HAS BEEN KNOWN FOR AWHILE NOW THAT HOOSIER MANAGEMENT ARENT GOOD PEOPLE TO WORK FOR. DAVE MAGEE WAS NO ANGEL HERE IN CHICAGO. HE WAS IN ON MANY FIXED RACES.

I'm not judging the pass and I'm sure the younger driver Dave Magee had some demons like most in this industry. Just putting out what I heard from a trainer in IL which was Dave's side. Whether who is right and who isn't I haven't a clue. The older Dave Magee I got to know was a good guy. The older one gets the better choices one gets to make.

Davey was a top driver in Chicago for 30 years. I don’t know if any horses that he stiffed. All around good guy and loved at the Chicago tracks. Like everyone I’m sure Davey has some skeletons in his closet. But he quit and was not fired do get your story straight. He kept complaining to management about several trainers and drivers cheating and they told him that it isnt his job to report people “he thinks” are using drug enhancers and to stay in his lane. Davey didn’t like that and lost his cool so he up’ed and quit. I hate to see him go.
