IHHA schedules open to all meeting Sep 29
« on: September 23, 2022, 06:34:35 PM »
Open to all at the Springfield fairgrounds. First 20 in attendance will receive a hammer and box of nails. The first question to ask how Dave Mac engineered the end of harness racing from the thoroughbred side? Do I have this right all dates at Springfield and no wagering? If so no signal, no handle, and no ADW. What the heck kind of purses will they be racing for? Plus, they owe 2.5M and still have recapture for next year. This is not a good sign and for those still clamoring for Balmoral they have 4 years yet of no par mutual racing so don't see that as a wait and see approach. Considering 2023 will be another economic slow down and money will be harder to come by as Hawthorne still for some odd reality not building out on a casino license. They have now missed the boat getting ahead of a Chicago casino. I can't imagine profits would be booming in Cicero with a full fledged downtown casino 20 minutes away?

Whatever he makes it’s not enough. Tony is good peeps and works hard but what can he really do? Can’t force Hawthorne to race. No other tracks want anything to do with harness. The downstate politicians have a bad taste in there mouth from what the johnsons did at Maywood and balmoral. I hate to say it but unless we get another track or someone leases balmoral for a meet, harness is pretty much done. racing at Springfield is an absolute joke. It’s a shame a city the size of Chicago doesn’t have a premiere harness track.
