So do I.  I have stopped paying into any stake that allows supplemental entries.

I was once in a stakes race against one of the trainers currently on the list for free meals and health services courtesy of the US Government

the trainer paid 15k to supplement

their horse broke and finished far up the track

my partner saw the other trainer at another track in the future and thanked them for supplementing and for the extra $$$

the jug had to allow supplements to try and get the best field possible
with big money sires stakes and a lot of trainers not wanting to go 2 heats their fields were getting small and lower quality

and yes you should have to win 2 heats

Because the best horse usually draws very well at Delaware. Let's see if they are that good and can beat a bad post.

If the money is there the good horses will be there too.  If you don’t pay your way you don’t race.
Original rules where you have to win 2 races sorts out the gasssssd ones.

Supplemental payment for Jugette just $15,000 for a $250,00 purse .  I think if you make all payments you invest around $5,500…   So if a big stable has 100 yearlings, 50% pacers, 50% fillies that makes 25 eligible.    Make no payments and just supplement the best.  Save a ton of $$$

Jesus , they got two supplements to make it two divisions of five? Not good, not good at all. It’s sad looking back even twenty years ago & seeing so many full fields, small outfits etc… how things have changed & not for the better

What's the reason for all the horses not entering?  KYSS was Sunday for 400k so thos horses really couldn't race back on Thursday.  They are gonna have to do something to attract more owners to participate.  The Jug has been really bad in the last 3-5yrs and seems to be getting worse.
I agree. The Jug has turned into a joke compared to prior years. Looks like Page got his wish and finally going to win it.  It has been given to him on a silver platter with the competition and short field he's facing. Post position is not even a factor like it use to be. Gulf Shores ? The way that horse has been racing.
