Batavia did have many canadians at 1 point ay.  Turcotte, Hie, Rankin, Waddell, Macrae, McKnight, and a whole bunch more. Race Secretary fucked up and put an owner entry into the race uncoupled. 9 horses total and the old drunk skunk fucked it up. Where was Mark Lowe I thought he was Hoovers eye in the sky, talk about a time to hide under your desk. Was in the bar after the races and heard some fat drunk employee talking about how something has to be done because the handle is down 50% on Sundays. Well maybe you shouldnt of doubled the price of hot dogs, or maybe you shouldnt of gotten rid of Todd H or maybe you shouldve kept Joe Z as announcer because Wayne stinks. There, i said it. Sue me.

Complaints of minimal handle

raced fri aug 26. 
Its the ONLY friday Batavia raced all month. Why? Make up card?..stupid people? Unscheduled for 90% otb and champions outlets?? Doesnt matter.

Race 3. 850 cdn win pool total in a 2 horse sires stakes trot..3 of 5 scratched out inc entry..could have been late scratch on big fave...it doesnt matter.

Its a track with NO desire from the Canadian side to play...its the show, except for slow mid week wednesday, that multiple Champions OTB up here dont even have a tv position for it.

Add this:  two Cummings race regularly. Kevin and the upcoming Kyle.  Youd think Batavia or the USTA would insist that program lines miggt say something like 'KeCumm or KyCumm' when reviewing past perfirmances..but alas..its always just 'KCumm'  WHO THE HELL DROVE HER LAST WEEK?  it doesnt matter.

Its a 'it doesnt matter' track. And outside of slow wed nights, nobody north of border with ALL OUR STUPID B AND C TRACK MONEY avoids.

The place was gone 20 years+ ago. No private money was interested in the place. It took the investment of public money to keep the doors open. Western OTB pitching the politicians on how they were going to revive the property by making it a corporate event center and a wedding destination.
 I have no idea if it ever had a profitable quarter in that venue. It did not matter, it was someone else's money. Then came slots...
 Now I will say, I stopped  by Batavia on my way to Canada. We stayed in hotel on the grounds. The rooms were very nice and less than $100. I enjoyed having my breakfast sitting at a table overlooking the track and watching the joggers and trainers. I felt, in charge. As I should being the only one there!

McNeights weren't from Canada. Place was a gold mine, till the 80's, Provanzano's daughter Barb and the priest got a hold of it. Used it as a personal piggy bank.

Last time I visited Batavia was in 2020. I bet the last race of the night and won $7.00. When i went to the mutuels 5 minutes later to cash, they were all closed. I still have the ticket in case I run out of toilet paper. Never went back!                 

A far cry from the 70's & 80's when Batavia was great.
