Ill 3 year old overnight races
« on: March 14, 2022, 10:25:24 AM »
It doesn't look like many chose to bring back their 3 year olds for the one 30k race.  Will there be enough trotters to go?  If you did bring yours back why?  If you didn't, why?

Agreed, it was a tough call with the limited opportunities for illinois breds.  I brought mine back.  They had 90 days off.

I'm sure the ones that had to turn out a 2 yr old early would have one ready. If you turned one after SN technical you could had a shorter turnout to come back for a couple of these races and then turnout again for the summer. Also most owners and trainers in IL probably had little or no information of what the race sec or poor excuse for a race sec would be writing for the winter meet.

I turned mine out for 60 days after NOC. Brought them back early December. The pacer made it for this 30k race. Will sell after. The trotter sold for 16k before since he wasn't gonna make IL stakes. No info was given on the change in stake schedule. It's IL racing, could continue to race a 2 yr old straight through and still be fine. It's not like you have to go fast in IL to make money. 3 yr old trotters will trot in 58 and make money.

Of course there was no warning.  I had to pull mine from the field the day it was announced.  Thankfully they didn't lose much.    Definitely shocked to see ozzy back this early.  Hopefully it gives some of the other boys hope later in the year.

Fillies going 3 seconds faster going for 30k.  Guess the filly knew they were racing for 30k and gave extra effort.

No.  I am talking about a pacer that had never went faster than 58 going in 55 in the slop.  A filly that just went 202 all out in a qualifier going 56.

I would say the point went over your head but from all the midget jokes about you it appears most things go over your head.
