Like everything the ARCI does (which regulates the allowable medication/withdrawal times) has got this one wrong as usual. Vet's block horses all the time with lidocaine for lameness detection. Trainers' responsibility is to bring a sound horse ready to race to the track. To that end, some horse skin products contain lidocaine as part of the treatment for skin conditions. For all we know one of the grooms is using Aspercreme for arthritis and touched the horse. Burke is smarter than to use lidocaine to race his horses. Obviously, the withdrawal time is not correct seeing that they took the study from European Horseracing Scientific Liaison Committee instead of paying to do it themselves. What a joke.ARCI ruling: Lidocaine 20 picograms per milliliter of total 30H- lidocaine in plasma or serum 72 hours 200 milligrams of lidocaine as its hydrochloride salt administered subcutaneously European Horseracing Scientific Liaison Committee data; Iowa State University study. Applies to total major hydroxylated metabolite (i.e., includes conjugates)
Ive Been harping about this for years. These kinds of positives should NEVER result in a trainer getting days--fines YES. Why?Because 1) The general public are not educated 2) The real cheats- 3) Lidocaine,Bute,Banamine, dex, robaxin etc-are everyday THERAPEUTIC medication-which at low levels do NOT and never will--make a horse go faster than he is capable of at the time of the race.BS positives like this ruin a trainers reputation-and the integrity of racing.
Ive Been harping about this for years. These kinds of positives should NEVER result in a trainer getting days--fines YES. Why?Because 1) The general public are not educated about therapeutic medications-hear about them-and immediately think horses are "doped" 2) The real cheats-have designer drugs they use for pain or blood boosting---these need to be rooted out and remain on the front pages. They are the drugs-that define the word "doping" as they are designed to make the horse run faster than he is capable of without them. 3) Lidocaine,Bute,Banamine, dex, robaxin etc-are everyday THERAPEUTIC medication-which at low levels do NOT and never will--make a horse go faster than he is capable of at the time of the race.BS positives like this ruin a trainers reputation-and the integrity of racing.Do away with suspensions for therapeutics at low levels not capable of effecting performanceGo after the PED's--perhaps only the FBI is capable of implementing this--racing Labs--are not doing it--so they go after 'soft" targets like therapeutics--to give rthe illusion they are actually "cleaning up" racing--when in actual fact--they do the reverse. They encourage cheats to use PED's because if you are going to be suspended for using therapeutics--why not use more powerful undetectable PED's???
Please F*** Yourself. Stacking non-PEDs is wrong, illegal and kills horses. Look at Baffert. Not only should trainers get suspended, owners should as well. The horses involved as well. You earn your living on a welfare basis and NEVER, NOT ONCE have you commented on the need to protect the gambling product. Your "just a little pregnant" rhetoric is just too pathetic. Even for you.
