I - sadly - watched this race. I have no knowledge of the horse that caused this, nor his trainer, so just commenting on what I do know.
Here's what I saw in the race:

• A horse on a "rolling down a hill" trajectory because as others have stated - and I saw with my own eyes - the lines were thrown at him
  A horse that took a small stumble step, then dropped.
  Another horse that had nothing to do with the first two events, who fell hard on his left hind area and looked doomed when he hit the track.

On this thread, I have seen a few times that "The horse has bad feet."
A lot of horses have "bad feet." There are definitely things you can do to help this. I am both hoping and assuming these things were done for this horse.

I am curious if anyone knows the state of the #9. I know he wasn't put down on the track; does anyone know his current status?

Final thoughts: While I am not certain the causing horse's "lameness" is to blame, there is no part of me that believes the JB stable is a clean, superior training operation.

Not a fair comparison. ABM was the devil running wild inside a horses body.  Uncontrolled speed, he only needed three legs to carry him through a mile.
Might be the biggest freak of nature any of us will ever see. Poor horse, heart like Superman with legs like Forest Gump.

The way i saw it too.  Horse literally looked like he gave it his all and just collapsed- I saw no bad step.  I totally agree that he was overdriven.  Someone needs to put Joe's ass in the bike and beat him coming down the stretch.  Great driver's don't throw the lines at a horse when it's clearly giving it's all and for such an extended length.  Joe, i don't know you, but driving a horse like that makes you look like a fool.  If i remember right, I believe this horse broke near the finish in it's previous race.  Do they still rule horse's off a track. Hope they drug tested him after race...

I agree with what your saying the problem is he is driving for  Burke and
 Alagna so he feels he does no wrong, like telling a kid to quit braking the rules but keep them unneeded stuff

Duh ..  Only all stabled at Gaitway.  All have trained or do train Crawford horses. Joey literally took over American History from Alagna late last year and has been driving for Burke for five years or so.  Ownership is not connected if that is what you are implying but in every other way they are definitely connected.
