The best part of Pompano Racing is we have a small handful of excellent drivers who control the track and the balance win 2-7 races a year, good competitive horses, few rules of which whipping is not one of them, and no drug testing. This is a great place to race and gamble.

Now, after once again telling the horsemen, Pompano will not race again after this meet.  Caesars management is threatening to turn the country's least marketed racino with the highest wagering pools (Thanks Gabe Pruitt) in the history of Pompano Park into a Jai Lai fronton so less people will show up at the Isle Casino and Amazon can build more warehouses. Caesar's management needs to check out what they are doing down here or just sell the whole parcel and leave town. Caesar's cannot operate their casino without parimutual wagering of some sort. They should embrace the history of Pompano and the horse business, cooperate with a new horseman's association, and most importantly put patrons in their racino to gamble and spend money. You cannot fix stupid!

Not sure I get why having few rules and no drug testing is great for gambling. Most sensible gamblers wouldn't desire that.

I'd argue those two factors have gone a long way towards  destroying harness racing and ensuring the horse abusing druggers control what used to be a sport.
