Gabe Wand
« on: August 30, 2020, 08:30:46 AM »
Has 1 in the 13th at Hawthorne tonight, listed at 15-1, coming off a qualifier.
No lifetime starts, but ran as fast or faster in the qualifier than anything else in the race has done recently.
Anybody have info on this horse, Heartland Dandy, and why listed at 15-1?

Mr Wand usually tunes up his young charges at the local WI county fairs.   These races have apparently been all cancelled for the year (even though Elkhorn's fair is not cancelled?)  So, all I can really say is: 1) this horse is no doubt very green; 2) Hawthorne is the only "local" option; and 3) Gabe generally does well as a trainer and driver at the WI non-betting circuit.

Some good info.
Anyone see the qualifier?

I'm still going to bet a couple on him.  Looks better than that field with anyone driving him.

You’re welcome.

Can stay in same class, but sure to be short odds next start, especially if driven by a catch driver.

Short odds next time, no matter who drives.

Your horse closed nicely for 2nd.
It’s not bad to pick up $1250 every start.

He got lost in the shuffle in that race. That horse just had too big of a lead for anyone to beat him. That’s a good bunch of nw1 horses that’s for sure.
