Many tracks in the US were closed Harness and TB due to Covid-19. This drove all of the gamblers to the Ohio tracks that were open. I don't see Scioto getting anywhere near those numbers in 2021 but I hope I am wrong.

You won't. While Barry is one of the better announcers "Dontyousayit". The numbers will plummet next year, unless a new virus, or numerous tracks shut their doors. I am hoping for the latter.

agree that gabe did have something to do with it, he is very go go go, yet normal guy. has kept pompano going. gives great picks at pompano. his desire to promote  and share his love for harness racing is 2nd to none.

And as much was handled.

They still lost money every night.

1.4 mil would get the track at max—$70k

So I guess we could celebrate the fact that they didn’t lose as money  lok55 lok55

Keep the casino open

Seemed like the overall quality of those wagering at ScD was improved this year.  Other than catching a few of the longshot purses, most of my daily grind $1 tri bets didn't pay nearly as well as would have been the case in prior years.

Barry was top notch, as always, and Gabe was a nice addition on the nights he was present.  Good to hear the interaction between the two of them.

On to LBJ week from here.  I was glad to see all five days will be on TVG.  At this point, I would rather watch and wager from home, just like I did for Scioto all season long.

Agree. check their pools the last few weeks. Embarrassingly low. Pretty easy to get handle when they were the only track open. Another track that needs to be shut down

If Eldorado continues to allow the decay - it nearly/clearly falls to the OH Commission to consolidate the racing at the 2 other SW OH tracks.  Dayton is modern w/ a mammoth barn - and, Miama Valley, even w/ a crappy paddock still is welcoming to betting patrons.

Scioto, the Gem of Racing a 1/2 century ago has to either step it up or step down

don't get me wrong -- I still like scioto racing, the racing is competitive and its not ring around the rosey racing...

But the problem is - you have industry leaders and the USTA standing around smoking cigars and patting themselves on the back.....

1) On your best day --- it took a pandemic to raise that handle.
2) On your best day --- you lost your ass still, as the money earned from wagering would have covered you thru
        about the 7th race
3) On an average day --- the handle was what it has been for years. With additional exposure over a few weeks,
at the end of the day, you lost that business to other tracks
4) YOUR FACILITY is the WORSE in the country. But luckily the casino pays the bills, pays the management and
perhaps pays off the Ohio Racing Commission so that they look the other way year after year after year
with their fall down grandstand that is condemned.

This is the problem --- Scioto's so called 'success' will probably mean the continuation of do nothing to improve
       anything.
