Has anyone else noticed?

http://ustrottingnews.com/meadows-racetrack-and-casino-names-jeff-zidek-announcer/

Jeff Zidek, Track Announcer at the Meadows.
Has a great resume within the racing industry and a known commodity within the Meadows family you could say.
With all due respect, he is not that good as an announcer.
He calls the horses and is accurate, but there is no enthusiasm whatsoever in his calls. I’m not saying he has to be a R. Huston, but I would think you should have someone that shows more life in his calls than that. Long shots up the passing lane on the outside or a horse that battled back after losing the lead is warranted a little giddy up in his call.
He appears to be a great analyst pre-race and I enjoyed him when he was part of a team, but the lead announcer?
Don’t know the man and I will guess that is a great guy.

Jeff, if you are reading this by chance, you have your biggest call coming up this Saturday. Don’t butcher it. Best of luck.
Am I missing something with his race calls?
Does anyone else out there notice this?
Very dry and bland call. Enthusiasm, tone, etc
I feel like I am watching qualifiers.

Yes, smartass ploppers out there,
“If you don’t like it, bet another track or turn the volume off”
“The Meadows is a garbage track, etc..
“Why don’t you try and call races if you don’t like it”

I am looking for some honest feedback.

Imagine looking at the same horses and same drivers..week after week...12 months a year......it is tough to make this format exciting.  I bet he looks forward to the Adios and a few other stakes, when new horses and drivers show up.....giving him a chance to step up the pace.

He is accurate......... .and his voice does not get on your nerves as you are watching the race. I'll take him over many others.

Having to do pre race selections and comments eats up a lot of his "rest time" between races.  Its a long day..starting probably 1 1/2 hours before the race...and finishing 15 minutes after the last of maybe 12 or 14 races.

What you don't see or hear, is the calls from the judges..each race...calls from mutuels...other notes from PR or Marketing........ ..its a full day job...not just the 4 or 5 minutes you hear

There was a time, a track announcer was quite a prestigious position in the racing world. When Pompano Park told Joe Ricci to accept a 50% pay cut or go away, most tracks followed suit with the same contempt for their race callers.

He is perfectly capable of calling the adios, and it is not that big a deal any more, other than the meadows faithful. I would rather listen to an announcer that gets things right than a loud obnoxious race caller. The race should be the excitement not the announcer. Jeff, it is no different than calling the fairs or all the other races you have done.

Accuracy is most important, followed by awareness of what is happening helps alot.(Not missing a breaking horse till 30 seconds after the break). I don't need alot of drama as long as its not  too bland. Kinda like the guys in my area  Ken Middleton at Mohawk and Joe Zambito at Batavia, do a good job.

What can I say?
Great win by Wilder and the guy had a chance to pump up the local guy and he’s as stale as they come.
Shameful!
Watch Race 16 stretch drive.
Great action and he’s got no energy into it.
Not saying the guy is a bad guy, but he is a horrific race caller.
