Always wait for the announcement from the horses connections, why speculate.

This is awful, end of story. There is no doubt a 47.1 was in the horse but IMO when these 3yr olds do it it's downhill from there. I always appreciated a big mile by a 4 yr old or older but in today's racing world it's like a college student pulling all nighters cramming for exams because racing is set up to make as much money and set record times and get to the breeding shed.

Going from a 1 mile track to a 5/8's can't help at all.

Is this true?

“I don’t think his injury happened at The Meadows,” he said. “I believe it occurred in the Meadowlands Pace when he hopped for a moment and David (Miller) had to take hold of him. If he’d shown any signs of injury, we wouldn’t have raced him at The Meadows. You saw how easily he won his elimination.”

Quite possible.

OK so IF it happened at the Meadowlands then that horse set a world record on a track that's at least a second slower than Pocono WITH a fractured bone.   How much of a monster is he?

McDuffee also said he won’t make a hurried decision on the horse’s future.

“It’s not a life-threatening injury; it will heal in time,” he said. “There could be a lot of records he could set at 4. Stallion-wise, he’s also generating a lot of interest. He’s a very special, smart horse. Papi Rob will be heard from again.”

A Very Nice Horse!!! I hope to see him race again but if not then He will have a Great 2nd Career at stud. We need horses like Papi racing to create some rivalry between the good ones. The next meeting with TDS would be epic!!!Those two are in a class of their own for the 3 year olds. In my opinion this class is as deep a class as we have seen since 2012 and TDS and Papi tower above the rest!!!
Give Allywag another shot. He was out the whole mile in the M Pace.

What a difference a few weeks make. TDS this. TDS that. No More Papi. Allywag hasn't seen the rail in 2 races and keeps on chugging for big pieces.

Not taking anything away from Allywag. He is a nice Colt as well. I am just not sure Allywag can get around all the tracks. Might be best on the big ones. Could go huge at the Red Mile. IMO he seems to hit his knees or something going through the turns. Once he is straight he is lightning fast. Don't count out TDS. One race does not make a season. Still would have been fun to see them all compete. To be the best 3 year old you have to show up for 4 or 5 months and dance with the best. Time will tell who can do that.
