Classic. Was great back in the day when the big stables moved in the big horse trailers from Grand Circuit week to different tracks. Remember the grooms riding in the big trailers, heads sticking out the windows? Those were the days.
Believe me as someone who rode in the back of the big semi-trailers, it was no fun.Hot and dirty. No place to sit down. You lay on the floor under the horses head as the horse eats from the hay bag.You come out hot, smelly. and covered with hay chaff.Yup nothing like riding with 9 horses, 9 grooms, 9 race bikes, 9 jog carts, 9 trunks, 9 beds, 9 forks, 9 brooms, 9 feed tubs, 18 or more buckets, plus hay, straw, and grain. But damn I loved it!OH and ps. The Brook Ledge driver had probably been on the road for several hours non stop.
My first trip was Pompano to Blue Bonnets nonstop. At the second truck stop I asked the driver why isn't the other guy driving any. "OH he is mad and drunk. I will take it the whole way."Another time the driver took us to Brandywine and left us when we were supposed to go to Atlantic City. We were stranded for three days.
