The Jade was a mile down the road.
The Bon Vivant was across from the race track.
Round Robin was also open for coffee and snacks.

The future of racing in NY State will be a lot different within two years. NYRA really only cares about their new project at Belmont and keeping the Saratoga tradition alive. Aqueduct will either end up a big box store or just a casino no racing. Gone will be Monticello, gone Finger Lakes and either one or both Buffalo, Batavia and it won't matter what Crooked Joe does in back rooms they will have a hard time keeping Yonkers going.

The Yonkers racetrack will be a hotel in the coming years. Does anyone know the length of the correct horsemen"s contract? When does it expire? That will probably be the end.

Batavia  owned by Western Region OTB  (state) and Buffalo is owned by Erie Agricultural Society basically a non profit, money goes right to back into fairgrounds. Monticello is fucked, itīs a shame place was a showcase in the 60īs and 70īs. Yonkers has been a shit hole for decades. God or Gural keeps Vernon and Tioga going, so those are under his whims. Saratoga is Saratoga Casino and Hotel, doesenīt even have racing in the name anymore. I think Buffalo and Batavia have a better chance of surviving.

I agree with your synopsis, Jupiter. Batavia and Buffalo are in the best political position. I also agree the others have their challenges.

Will the drivers and trainers be panhandling in between races for purse money? This "company", originally Empire Resorts, has made every wrong decision that can be made from day one and has burned money right and left from day one. Makes one wonder why the stock price tanked the afternoon they got the license all those years ago and why the entire operation of Catskills Resorts and Monticello Raceway have lost how many millions.... a sad sideshow that will not end well, unfortunately.

Amazing....1 million dollars so they can reopen to continue to lose huge sums of money each and every day. A bunch of empty suits from day one who spent 1.5 billion on e "resort" in the middle of nowhere, in a completely saturated market..... LOSERS 11.wp

Agreed! Huge losing business venture, They were banking on the Asian clientele and forgot about the good old local Sullivan county folk! Problem is the chinamen are cashing out daily and the locals are taking their money elsewhere because they didn’t market to them!! Classic. ...anyways, hoping the horses start back sooner than later.
