It bears repeating that Scar is immediately surrounded by Route 1 to the east and the Maine Turnpike (I-95) to the west.  To get to Cumbie you take I-295 to the Tuttle Rd exit and head west toward “downtown” Cumberland, which literally has one gas station and one convenience store.  Watch your speed passing the police station and Mabel Wilson School (15 mph when lights flashing, otherwise 25).  Take Blanchard Rd at the one traffic light in Cumberland and continue on, looking for the intersection of Bruce Hill Rd/Ridge Rd.  Cumbie will be on your left.      Get the idea?  😂😂😂

It amazes me that you are bitching a lunch right now. Cumberland has put storage in THEIR OWN BUILDINGS for years but it was wrong they did it again this year without knowing this was gonna even happen.    Those bastards   How dare they make money without asking permission if we get 50 days this year to get started be grateful and if you can’t deal with that go somewhere else and race or bet ...stop bitching   makes ya want to get out of the business. people here shit in their own feed tub

50 days first year.     Will not race against fairs you watch and storage will still be in paddock and grandstand till may 1.  Next year those buildings will empty earlier  when they put it in last year they didn’t know about this happening early
Next year? What happened to the new track for next year? LOL No sports betting no new track.

actually the downs when it was profitable had tourist at the track. cumby off the main drag for sure but we will not survive without fans. they find a way to fryeburg they could find their way to cumby. longshot sure but not enough mainers go to tracks or otbs anymore. we need to generate some $ ourselfs or we are at the end. and we are not wrong to shit on cumby storage practices. they knew what was going on last fall, i do believe the chairman of the commission knows all of what goes on at the fairgrounds. and knows what going on with race dates. cumby is just a carrot being held out for the horsemen.

I wish it was like the old days but the days of fans going to the races are over. It's a trend that is more noticeable as each year goes by. The availability of watching and wagering at home has changed the landscape. I would guess that 90-95% of track's handles are from simulcasting. It's a reality. It's not going to change.

agree. somehow maine needs some people to bet the product. the casino $ will go away if we keep repeating the past few years. bangors signal is everywhere yet best handle there might hit 70,000. empty stands are the political types key to re allotting the casino $.  i know tourist wont pack the stands but we need anyone and everyone. the other thing with cumby is no matter what you do to the track you are not racing november thru end march.
as far as betting from home, at least for maine residents, that got messed up with the exclusive penn deal. idea to get some money from adws was good how it rolled out was not. too many who might have wanted to bet downs had to go thru the slow process of setting up with penn.  lock you are right most are now and forever betting from home.  the tracks in maine need to get signal out and make it easy to bet our product.
