I see that Ake Svanstedt even is now involved in thier stakes program. He has a trotter that has made over 80,000 already this year in the 2 year old cold and gelding division.

Start of the Mass Sire Stakes at the Ridge today. 1st legs today and tomorrow. Purses total $360,000 for the 2 days. Amazing. Huge money up for grabs. Scott Zeron even in to drive. Good luck to all.

So at plainridge today there were a lot of people with their mask on their chin or under their nose. I was surprised that nothing was done about it. I wasnt comfortable there today.
The racing was good but not really betable.

No sitting allowed in the chairs outside. Theres a few chairs and tables over by the grass.
I was surprised at the mask situation today.

yes, old john, bangor/hollywood only wants casino. same as scarborough, cut their dates then cry that they lose 10,000 a day on racing. fixed costs spread out over more days brings the per day cost down. both tracks have perfected the accounting to say racing cost too much. bangor shamefully knows they need racing to keep the casino but they are working on getting rid of us.    why with the adutiorium  not in use was the covid testing not done there. using covid testing excuse  to keep the few fans out is bull. just like the casino only letting the track have 1 teller to bet with when the public is allowed there.  the fn otb closed at the casino is another bunch of crap. gaming board members are as corrupt as washington dc.  they and the harness comission letting them cut dates/not have tellers/ used testing site bull and on. they are letting bangor be the downs north. only difference is when bangor destroys their own racing they will still end up with the only thing they want.  the casino.
as for the ridge. i been noticing the same lack of mask wearing for a while. even at the start up of racing no one seemed to enforce masks. sad for a state that was hit so hard with the virus. my money is on them shutting racing down but keeping casino open if cases get traced to the ridge.  ridge has been much better to the horsemen but still the casino is all they make money off of. all the track/casino patrons are in the high risk group. why no one seems to care is beyond me. my local walmart now has a security guard to enforce mask wearing. a casino has security there all the time how hard would it be?

todays card at downs had to be one of the worst ever. almost every race was filled with our slowest. it would be nice if they could write a few races that can actually showcase our horses. while we got some checks today not a good day for attracting new fans.

Pretty hard for owners to invest not knowing what is going to happen with covid. Plus the use of TM races is beneficial to cheaper horses. In some cases very very cheap horses. The fact that so few tracks even use TM tells it all.
