its good we are back to better purses. it would be even better if we could race another month in maine for our lower levels that cant compete at the ridge.  i still will never think that deal in august was good for us. we lost 20 pecent of the purses to the downs. the other day the voice mike sweeny was going on about how great the past few saturdays were, to the few people there tuesday. did we get 20 percent from the downs? since they were doing so well. i do agree with june that we could race but still leaves a bad taste to me.

hopefully the fairs will all come back and stronger than ever. i worry we might lose topsy and union. hope virus is all gone. hope casino money comes in better than we all expect. all in all im amazed that both downs and bangor handle are doing well with no one at bangor and downs limited. might be a good trend. my biggest wish is that somehow we do get a new track in southern maine. one that actually wants to race and try to make a go of the racing. sadly racing does need the casino money but i do believe that a track run right could do pretty well with the right location. something right off the turnpike with lights for the summer evenings. i do have a small hope. maybe run fri/sat eves sunday afternoons, april thru early december. 100-110 cards a year. im sure a lot of the costs that downs cryed about would be a lot less spread out over more days. the per day cost that is. another thing that i would love to see too is a stable area at the track. not huge 250-300 stalls. it helps keeping the box filled and full fields are so much better to bet. we need to generate money for ourself. this year proved that.  i guess all we need now is me to hit powerball to build it.

It might interest the politicos on this thread to note that Maine’s economy is currently operating at 93% of where it was in early March, the best in the country.  Evidence also shows that states opening “early” experienced a brief economic boost followed by significant decline.  Thank you Augusta for the short-term pain followed by long term gain.  Grateful to live in the Pine Tree state!

June—very disappointed in the tone of your reply, especially the personal part.  Most folks from Maine are more respectful than that.  The data is collected by Moody’s, the same organization that sets bond ratings when states need to borrow money.  A very reputable outfit.  Facts are facts—just trying to share data that can help elevate the conversation.  Sorry you don’t want to participate!

June B is DEAD ON !!  Great post, young lady!!  This State is in SSSOOOO much trouble in the small business arena.  Take it from one who’s in “said arena..”. The number of business’ that will not be back next summer is horrifying!!  And THE ONLY reason the numbers in Maine rank so well in the N ational numbers?  It’s because we are at the BOTTOM of the list in numbers.  1.3 million in our State... that is a fraction of the head count in every other State.  Austin Powers in the Blaine House has done ZERO to help the small businessman/woman.  We have one shot... bring back Paul Lepage.... he’s our only hope... I promise you...

So which is it???  “Plainridge is doing great !!!”...... “When is Plainridge going to do something about Beckwith.”.... “Tgank God for Plainridge, their purses and allowing Mainers to race there.”.... or... “When are they going to do something about Beckwith?.”.......

If you can’t beat him... lick your wounds and try harder!!
