Race 2 at Monticello on May 22
« on: May 22, 2019, 01:32:21 PM »
I know I'm preaching to the choir, but how these crooks get away with this is absolutely beyond me.  As horseplayers we see it, why don't authorities and compromised owners/trainers?

Race 2, Jim Taggart Jr. makes the easiest lead in the history of harness racing on Joeyscash and almost immediately begins looking back for Bruce Aldrich Jr. on the over bet chalk, Racintowardadream .  He then proceeds to strangle Joeyscash for about a quarter of a mile to get Aldrich Jr. around him and the rest is history.

How is it possible that this goes on in this day and age?

Take a look at race 4. Cory Stratton absolutely beats a horse to death to finish last
Yonkers now the #1 track in the nation

I watched the replay. Merton was the even money favorite and taggart wanted to sit behind him which he did. Only questionable thing he did was to not park Merton. Taggart couldn’t catch him in the lane anyways

My bad, it was Merton.  Regardless, this "looking for the favorite" bullshit is what they used to call "race fixing".  It's so stupid.  As gamblers, we're trying to beat the ridiculous chalk (i.e. Racintowardadream) and the damn drivers cater to them.  Here was a perfect opportunity to use tactical advantage to toast the bad chalk and Taggart does the exact opposite, as do most drivers in most races.  Criminal.

NJ The best
