Rachel Oenema

TROT Magazine is pleased to announce that Rachel Oenema has been hired as its new Associate Editor.

Along with her education in Marketing & Advertising at Sheridan College, and her years of industry experience as both a trainer and a caretaker, Rachel has also worked on the in-house show at Flamboro Downs, and more recently as Kelly Spencer's marketing assistant at Grand River Raceway.



"Rachel is a life-long horseperson who is truly passionate about our sport, and I'm confident that she's going to make a fantastic addition to our team," stated Dan Fisher, TROT's Managing Director.

Along with her duties at TROT, Oenema will also be working with the Standardbred Canada website team, as well as on SC's social media presence.

The backside of any racetrack is a twilight zone and when it comes to females you have your fat slobs, bodies but no face types and every now and then you see one that visually passes until she speaks. With all types their just looking for a way out to easy street which is why many hook up with trainers or drivers and then comes the thumping in some cases. There was one broad at Mohawk who was a groom and worked at nights as a waitress in the bar. She had the body but no face and she would get passed around more than a baton at a relay race.

I still see her once in a while. Fell out of the Ugly Tree and hit every branch on the way down.

but she also got a positive a year or so ago being a paper trainer for Williamson...……..probably more shocked than anyone....being used by that guy who pre races at the farm and his paper trainers are nothing more than catch paddock types..
