I had a real nice albatross 2 yo filly get in a wreck in a baby race at brandywine. she got up, jumped the hubrail with all her equipment, ran around the infield and to my horror she jumped right into the infield lake. she stood there , water up to her neck shaking like a leaf.

we hauled her out with a tow truck and she went on to have a decent career. her name was city kitty

Kept racing and didn’t remove him. That’s really nice respect for Kauffman and the gamblers that horses and drivers are cared for. Sad

Why? You ask why? A horse is dead in the lake they have and spectators see him go in there and never come out. That’s why

unfortunately this happened years back at a training center down here in florida

horse got spooked
everyone running after him with jog cart and darted for the infield lake/pond
wasnt pretty sight
many people jumping in trying to unhook the jog cart
unfortunately with hopples on and whatnot
horse didnt make it

next day a crane came out with a dive team to retrieve the body
ill never forget it

sad day

Believe it happened at hoosier last year as well.  Not sure why they have ponds.

What does that solve?  Horse is still dead.  What is the difference when a horse breaks down and has to be carted off.  I have never seen them cancel the rest of the card.

This is just another of many reasons this sport haha, should be done away with. Savage abuse of animals by the participants, why?  just to steal the almighty dollar.

Shame on all of you in this industry, how can you sleep at night?

Yes, shame on us for bringing these beautiful animals into the world.  Shame on us for treating them so good that it makes you liberals sick that we would spend so much money on their care and you cant redistribute that money to lazy people and illegals.

Just a bad deal.  Watched the replay and Barry said the horse was caught by the outrider??  You can see her going towards the horse but something must have transpired after that.  I am surprised they didn't cancel if the horse wasn't retrieved from the pond.  I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.  Meadows looks like a small grand canyon but believe they have a inside fence to protect the horses.
