IS IT JUST ME? or,

are horsepeople really that dumb? even the hierarchy doesn't talk like they know where purse money comes from. racing does not sustain itself. its survival is 100% dependant on subsidies. gumby dumby fundme account.

The great Howard Parker once told me Monti would be done by 2010 he was off, but it’s clear just go watch the races anywhere in NJ and NY and there’s ;4 literally 4 people watching the races. All tracks are eliminating concession stands and it’s sadly not good in a few states. Once a few go it’s iver I’m afraid

There’s plenty of reasons for that but the main reason is gambling competition. Years ago aside from racing “ the ponies” as they said, there were Street books who handled betting on sports. Once the lottery started, than OTB,s were born and of course add the birth of the East Coast casinos where you can drink and eat and gamble and get complimentary food and drink and than you have internet wagering where you can stay in the comfort of your home and drink as much as you like without spending $15 for a call drink and $15 for nachos and wager all night long on your favorite track. And now add in sports betting could be the final venue to put the nail in the coffin. Think about it what would you choose??

On a routine basis, no. But, nothing beats going to a track with a good crowd. Last week, I was at The Fairgrounds in New Orleans. Got my Groupon for 48% off clubhouse preferred seating, program, tipsheet and $20.00 off food. The clubhouse dining room was about 75% full. The first race was a ding dong to the wire with the favorite and a longshot. I have not heard a crowd roar down the lane like that in 20 years. A fantastic experience. Can get that on the couch.
But, to go to the local harness track and know the names of half the 50 people in attendance is just depressing.

Igot's 2 things to say.
(1) Don't go to track. NEWS FLASH. That were action is. And you need to be on track if your betting that product.
(2) STAY at home. And you crybabies go. RACING OVER. NO one attends anymore. I ATTEND. I support RACING.
When the day comes and you QUEER FUCS complain: IT'S over. YOU FUCS RUINED HARNESS in ILLINOIS. You talked big SHIT but never attended.
TRCKS CLOSED because you QUEERS never went and instead spent .40 cents a night on supers. And then complained because your straight chalk ran 4th.

Many tracks today are not conducive to watching the races. You have to stand or sit past the finish line.
