Harper and Machado
« on: February 10, 2019, 09:30:55 AM »
I hope the Teams stay sane and send a message to these 2 under performers.
Neither of them are worth what they are demanding.

Machado   ....   For the last years, has been the leader of one of the worst teams in baseball.    Regularly sulks and doesn't run out ground balls.  Traded to LA and his lack of hustle and leadership continued.   There is a 50/50 chance this guy will destroy your clubhouse, not help it.

Harper   ....    Turned down $300m.   Another guy that has been on a serious contender, but has done nothing to pull them out of a 1st round.  He ranked 97th in batting average in 2018, and 16th in OPS.  His 34 homers place him 16th in 2018 and his OPS puts him in the same spot.   He isn't the best at anything.

When you're expecting the $$ these 2 are, you need to be a leader, a consistent performer and a proven difference maker at big times.  Machado and Harper are none of those.

I hope someone signs them for around 30m per year on short, 3 or 4 year contracts.

$ 50,   2 - 1 says Philadelphia don't win the National League in 2019.

Iceman  ...   Couldn't agree more.
I don't dislike the guy.   I simply feel he is overrated and self centered.
Time will tell.
He'll have no excuse for a bad year.   He is going to be surrounded by good hitters on that Philly roster.

He may be an even slower starter since the Jay pitcher driller him in the ankle on the weekend.  He went down like he'd been shot.

Mike Trout getting more than either of these guys. He is better bang for the buck.

Pleased things have worked out much better for Washington than they have for Harper.
No athlete in a team sport is worth what Philadelphia were stupid enough to pay this guy.

Good luck Nationals !!
