I remember pissing all over the toilet seats after consuming some adult beverages one day, so if you ever had to do a sit down and thought things felt a little sticky and damp... YOU'RE WELCOME

I remember it being known as "The Place" in the late 70s, early 80s.  Very dark, like a nightclub, bar in front, and an elevated alcove with tables, TVs and lounge chairs to watch the races.  To bet you'd walk down a little hallway inside The Place with, as mentioned, there being two tellers.  A very hip set up for that time.  during the week, at night, I would always devour the pizza and soft ice cream. Always a buzz at MR.  Was a great time to be young and into the ponies!

I loved that soft ice cream as well. A lot of concerts there too during the summer months. Some groups would play every night for a week between races.

Correct about the concerts.  When I was a teenager working in a summer sleepaway camp in Pennsylvania in the 70's, about 1/2 hour from the track, our boss took us to the track one night to see Donald Byrd and the Blackbyrds and Ray Charles. Quite the lineup!

I'm not sure if any of you had the pleasure of dining at the cafe in the paddock with your host Lily she was a great person Hope she's still around (not at Monti)
I remember hanging in the paddocks with the likes of Joe Minieri, Herb Weiss,  Davey Marshall and Johnny Gilmour
Ahhh the wonderful scent of DMSO

whoo was that big hipped blonde I saw with joe minieri a few times?
herb Weiss was always there.
johnny Gilmour had a nice house in mongaup valley on 17 across from the gas station and post office
after the racess a bunch of guys showed up in the cafeteria, joe romano, howard oil and his circle of goofs, larry rolla with his gold chains and quite a few more.
I tended to hang out with tom edler, he knew everythin and everyone there
