Shocked no one has proposed as an alternative a survivors steel cage match.

I will offer one serious suggestion just for consideration. And this comes from a handicapper that likes to mix real longshot bombs in with a few favorites in p5's and p4 to spice up payoffs.

If it is decided that the outcome is governed by actual win and place amounts in each race, may want to consider a cap. A lot of the thoroughbred contests do this. The thinking is it helps to avoid an outlier that really can't handicap at all and just picks 10 30-1 range horses hoping one wins. Maybe $40 win cap...

Makes no real nevermind to me though. Sounds like fun and as long as well all no the rules presumably can all adjust to accommodate

Love the idea of a contest but 13 races is a lot to handicap. Maybe like, 3 from 2 different tracks

...more specific details re: contest:

1. Saturday's Meadowlands card ONLY

2. ALL picks will be due by 1st race

3. We're going to try and create a format which you may be able to copy and paste so all the entries can be formatted the same way (makes for easier grading).

4. $175 prize pool; $100 for 1st; $50 for 2nd; $25 for 3rd. Money order sent to address of winning members.

5. We're trying to find a fair way of avoiding alternate picks in an event of any late scratches. We're floating the idea since all late SCRs are unavoidable, maybe awarding 1pt. + add'l  pts. iffavorite wins (or some such, basically meaning a root for the chalk in case of SCR.

6. ALL picks will go on a topic which will be closed after the 1st to lock away all selections.

Again, any positive input will be considered but this framework is pretty solid.

Hey its great your having a contest, but why you making it so hard. Just pick how many races you want at big m and get 2 wps on horse.  Most money wins. if horse screech you get post time fav. Whats so hard about that ?
