Natalie Rasmussen drives 4 and trains 7 winners incl 800,000 NZ Cup

Won R2, R3, R4, R7, R8, R9 and Race 10 also ran 2nd in two of these races. 

Only 2nd female driver to win this race in 110 year history and she now has driven and won every major race in Australasia


Natalie Rasmussen winning at over 50 percent driving in last 2 years. Safe to say the best female driver around hands down as there are not many LOL.

The little horse "The Fixer" (well named) wins NZ cup in only his 16th start and would not have made the field had 4 of the tops horse scratched hurt or sick over last 4 weeks.

Amazing that Purdon has won all 7 races he entered

Owned by Lazarus's old owners this is another Bettor's Delight out of a Christian Cullen. LOL, Horse had only won 127,000 before this. Ran 2 miles from a stand in 3:53 and last half in 55 seconds and nails the Australian horse on wire (Tiger Tara former NZ horse) who has now won 1.8 millions.

So basically a horse who would not have qualified for this race wins it and goes off as the favorite with massive win bets put on at last minute

In fairness, this was a wide open field after Chicago Bull hurt himself in a lead up race.

They race for good money down there with the smallest purse 25,000. Even winners of 1 race go for 25,000.

The NZ Cup had 15 runners and the winner opened up at 4.90 for 1.00 and paid 3.70. They had a false start and while they wasted 5 minutes with that, The Fixer dropped 1 dollar in the win betting in the last 3 minutes of betting.  To drop that price there had to be some big money go on because the whole country bets that race

The owner just said that Natalie Rasmussen told him 3 years ago that The Fixer would win this race when the horse was a 2yo. 

They just won the 11th race so that's 8 races entered and 8 won and they have one in Race 12.

Mark Purdon so far on 2nd day of Meet at NZ Metro has driven and trained the winner in all 3 he has entered in the 7 races gone so far.

They were paying 20 to 1 if he goes 6 fo 6 on the day.

So in the last 12 races he has entered at least 1 horse, he has won 11 of them. Considering most fields are 12 to 16 runners, it's safe to say he is the best trainer in the Southern Hemisphere by fucking miles and near the best driver as well. (Near the top)

Got a pretty decent trotter in King's Landing who won Tuesday (Mon here) and today by Muscle Hill out of a former top mare who also left a 35 to 1 shot today with an Angus Hall half sister trained by a guy who loves to bet his horses at long odds.

I don't know purdon from Adam; but I would think something funky is going on there. Nobody dominates like that especially in huge fields. On first blush it seem funky.

He gets all the good horses from the richer people down there. His father was top trainer for years and he probably knows how to help a horse along more than most. A lot of the big races he  has multiple runners like Burke seems to.

He really knows how to take care of a horse and they get the best of care and he does not over race and errs on the side of caution. He spends hours and hours with them even though he has a great team around him. It helps that is co-trainer is Natalie Rasmussen who was a top trainer in Aussie before she hooked up with him and her driving record is better than him over there. She wins over 50 percent of her drives even though she only drives 200 times a year, usually in big races.

The main thing is, he seems to treat these animals like they are part of the family and doesn't just race them to get the next dollar. Horses are mapped out well in advance.  Has a real knack of sitting behind a youngster and more often than not, predicts how good they are going to be with pretty good accuracy down the line. Obviously many good horseman can but he's well known for it.

And the Free for all which is the Cup runners who ran 3 days ago come back behind the gate from the stand they had on Monday and go 1 mile and a quarter. Purdon has to drive one moving up in class who won three days ago as he part owns it and he runs 2nd and Natalie with her better than 50 percent driving record beats her boyfriend.   Favorite from Australia runs last.


So they ran in a total of 15 races won 12 and 2nd in one other.

The class of open Pacers there not nearly as good as past years with injuries, sickness and some choosing to bypass.

The $300,000 trotter's G1 race, horse gets minor checked at 900m out, pulls 3 wide, goes past 10 horses in an 8th of a mile, blows doors off field and wins without being asked.

The winning driver has driven a total of 30 winners in 357 drives over 14 years (LOL) and 28 of them are on trotters. So that is his biggest win.
