Memories
« on: September 27, 2018, 09:37:58 AM »
Losing my virginity with this post.

First time I went to racetrack was opening day of Yonkers, March 1960. My first bet was $2.00 show on 60-1 trotter from 8 hole. Don't remember horses name, but after alsmost 60 years, I can tell you that driver was Arlo Nelson. Horse finished 3rd and paid$12.00 to show. Remember this is $12.00 in 1960 dollars. I said to myself, "wow, this is an easy way to make a living". Pipedream. I remember the stands exploding with applause and shouts, at Roosevelt, when Adios Butler paced a mile in just under two minutes. I'll try to post some more memories when I have time.

shout out
