WHY ARE HARNESS HORSES MOSTLY THROWN SLEEVES OF HAY IN STALLS

AND TBRED HORSES

THEIR HAY IS IN A LARGE BALL HUNG OUTSIDE THERE STALL GATE MOST OF THE TIME,,

ITS BEEN BUGGIN ME FOR YRS

Years ago, when a groom rubbed 2-3 horses, we alway shook out the hay flakes, inspected for mo0ld or excess dust and sprinkled the hay pile with water to keep the dust down.
 why do they just throw a flake in the stall now? Lazy or, overworked.

COULD BE MILLPINS OF REASONS BUT THE ONE I LIKE IS BEING ABLE TO LOOK DOWN THE SHED AT A GLANCE AND SEE HOW THE HAY CONSUMPTION IS GOING, PLUS THEY DONT HAVE ANYTHING TO PAW AT IF IN BAG VS ON THE GROUND.  MANY USE HAY RACK INSIDE STALL AS WELL....WASTE ALOT ON GROUND AS WELL VS THE BAG...JUST A FEW THOUGHTS CUKEPARK

Some people like to hang the hay to keep it off the floor and dust and some think they can chew and swallow it better leading to better digestion. I always fed it on the ground with a little water on it.

Just feed them Hay cubes in a bucket, Lucpark.
