pylon, Taylor's partner was Montegue Black who was Conrad's father and don't think for a minute that there was not some stipulations put in place, we all take care of our young. It was a natural progression for Revelstoke who Conrad was in charge of when the takeover of Argus happened he would be in charge of Argus.

ok, so George was Conrads,s father and was dead for almost 20 years prior to the sale..........and anyway WEG/OJC was a non profit operation....your narrative is nonsense, but, hey, believe what you want...have the last word............. .............and remember this  is a US based discussion board, nobody on here cares about what we are talking about...........I just brought it up because a lot of your posts contain fiction and folks should realize that..........ah bye

pylon you are the uniformed and as I said before pylon as a handle suits you to a T because you sure are as dumb as a pylon that gets run over every race night, you have taken too many shots.

yep, when you run out of informed opinions, and don't present facts, you just resort to name calling........we ll played sir..

This is exactly what I said in my original post! Pretty cool story though.

WEGCEO Jim Lawson further explained the re-branding in
a HRU on page 5.?We all have sentimentalityabo ut Mohawk
Park.People maycall it Mohawk, people maycall it
Woodbine,but our new customers,international customers,
Internet customers? theydon?t want to go on the Internet
and be confused. And 75 per cent of our wagering ison the
Internet.That?show the world isevolving,?Lawson said.
?Our growth islargelyinternat ional, that iswhere we?ve
seen the growth,in the United Statesand Asia and Australia.
That?swhere we need to take thisbrand.?
Physically,Mohawk will officiallybe known asWoodbine
MohawkPark, but itsstandardbred racing signal will be
Woodbine SB.The thoroughbred signal will be called
Woodbine TB.
Personally, anyone that knowsme isaware that Mohawkis
prettymuch myfavorite place on the planet. In 1998,I took
mywife Kim on our first (blind) date to ?The ?Hawk?and 10
yearslater I proposed to her on one knee in front of the
winner?scircle on arace night.So,at first,I didn?t reallyknow
how to take the name change. But having worked in the
corporate businessworld for several decades,I understand
whycompaniesre-brand certain productsand,in some cases,
their entire corporation.Asan owner, bettor and media
member,I have alot at stake locallyand obviouslyam in
support of anychangesthat will increase businessand
improve the product.I understand the sentimentality
attached to the ?Mohawk?name and I will simplycontinue
referring to mysummer home as?The ?Hawk?asI have been
doing for several decades. But the hoopla in thiscase ? at
least from where I sit ? ismuch ado about nothing, and soon
the focuswill be on the superstarsof the sport showing up
for stakesseason with the corporate name change long
forgotten and the summer meet thriving asalways.

It's a lot like the CFL. For years there were only 9 teams, but 2 of them were named "roughriders" lol.

We will get used to it after a while. But I still don't like it.

In my mind, the Jays still play at the Skydome.

Well not a great start to the meet BUT short fields and low quality of horses.

Woodbine 4/5 = $1,617,547 handle
woodbine 4/6 = $1,690,474 handle

Mohawk 4/13 = $1,381,079
mohawk 4/12 = $1,308,791

Handle down $618,151 over 2 days or 15%

Duke    ......    And weather you wouldn't put your Mother In Law out in.   I know the handle comes mostly from on line, but it is still affected by the weather.   Ugly conditions make it harder for someone to solidify their bets.   The gap between the good ones and the bad ones gets closed up a little.

Agree bad weather but we will see next week. 300K less first 3 nights is quite a drop.
They say 85%of handle off track.

I know for a fact a few punters have had enough of the moreau/roy show. No value for them. Exactly what Allard did years ago to WEG

We already know about their retarded renaming of Mohawk to Woodbine Mohawk Park.

But now look how this new designation is listed in the program.

Woodbine = Wdb7/8

Mohawk = Moh7/8

Woodbine Mohawk Park = Wbsb7/8  angbk

WTF is Wbsb7/8?  91zxa.1 94z.sm

This is referred to as "branding" the Woodbine name internationally

Don't shoot me...I'm just the messenger........( I read this somewhere !)

On opening day when Jason was interviewing that female executive, you could read his mind when she said "The new name will be Woodbine at Mohawk Park". He was thinking "You fn jerk, I'll bet you never made a bet in your life. This is fn retarted".

Agree. So stupid that the program is  showing the Mohawk previous qualifiers under the old name and then showing last weeks race results under the new name.
