Almost home to Mohawk
« on: April 06, 2018, 12:08:45 PM »
I'm sure trainers, owners and drivers who live on the west side of the GTA can't wait for next week to come.    Mohawk for good.   No more brain melting trips, east on the 401 to Rexdale.  No more winner circle photos out behind the stands where no one can see you.   No more impersonal trips down the stretch with absolutely no living human within 200 yards to cheer you on.   Hallelujah  !!!!

My favorite track to visit. Usually go to the North American Cup every year. Very festive atmosphere. Plus I can take my wife who likes to play the slots! Can't wait to see all the improvements. The Saturday night buffet in the clubhouse is second to none. Another plus is exchanging an American $100 bill and getting $130 Canadian back.

I love that.  Then you exchange the $130 Canadian and get back $170 American.

Right?

They won't hire a track man for the 5 hours a day the track is open for training!! No shot of opening the backside, especially once Great Canadian announces a move to Milton

Why doesn't someone with connections and time on their hands, create a non profit organization and fund, sole purpose to upgrade the grooms quarters, providing low cost accommodations for folks in the business.

The best part of the Canadian exchange is, you have a $100 for betting and $30 for a bite to eat. Only time the exchange back hurts is when you win big. That usually don't happen....LOL

Mohawk is a fantastic track to take in a live card. Lots of parking in the middle of the country side etc. Here's hoping they can start putting together some attractive cards soon.

With the looming closure of Dresden and a couple others on the ropes, it's not unfathomable to see the bottom completely falling out of the sites stakes program soon. The grass roots horses are generally the backbone of filling cards in smaller tracks etc. The trickle down will be felt in other jurisdictions as well.
