Word is bankruptcy is coming for Monticello. Bad management and bad Horsemen Association has finally put the track on life support. Minimum purse is now down to 1800 with another drop scheduled in 2 weeks. Also, Wednesdays have been eliminated, as there is not enough purse money for 4 days of racing per week. The corrupt insiders like Faraldo and Schwartz finally achieved their goal. Congratulations!!

Without a doubt, the saddest excuse for a "racetrack" in the country. The entire town of Monticello and this "establishment" are both the poster children for welfare in America today and are clearly stuck in the 1970's with zero future.

Mike, not sure your info is correct. Also, Faraldo and Schwartz did negotiate a contract but If the track owners back out and squeeze the horseman and then go belly up, how is that their fault ?? Please explain in detail.

My info is rock solid. Track owner with the help of Faraldo and Schwartz put in escape clauses that dopey horsemen didn't know about or didn't care. For instance, the horsemen are responsible for their purse account. If they don't have enough to fund races for the dates appropriated, the track owner can shut down and start bankruptcy proceedings to their race business and in essence decouple it from the their casino business which is the goal of every racino owner out there. The reason it is Faraldo and Schwartz's fault is they basically gave away all simulcast income, which would have kept racing afloat for a higher piece of on track wagering which is non existent. They also didn't get an increase on VLT income and are getting nothing from new casino except for some shares of new casino which are worthless at this point, as their are lien holders on new casino who by law get their money that they lent back before shares can be cashed in.
