Farewell, Mrs. Chenery.  Secretariat was my all time favorite thoroughbred, and I was privileged to watch his Derby in person.   She's pretty much a legendary figure as a result of the movie.  If the movie was anywhere close to being true, she was a hell of a woman.

I liked the fact that she was not above letting her hair down.......but always in a discreet manner. many, many years later and after he died, she admitted to a fling with Lucien lauren a very colorful character.

good for her and for him. I'm sure they enjoyed each other in the midst of those 2 whirlwind years with riva ridge and secretariat. people tend to forget other great horses they raced in that decade such as capital asset and a few others but my memory is failing me.

if I'm not mistaken, they had a good one before riva ridge and a few after secretariat,  anybody remember them ?

Read her obituary after reading this posting.  I had never heard that she had an affair with Lucien Laurin, but it was in the obit article even.  Why didn't Disney include that in the movie?  LOL
