JEALOUS? Of you? Why would ANYONE be jealous of you?
I was there opening night as well Dougie and I still have the race program! It was mobbed![/quoteWiz, I remember that they ran out of programs. I don't know what year Gural took over, but I've never seen a guy more hated/loved by so many fans. Gural and his wife stayed at a bungalow colony that my family also stayed at. I never really knew him but I think he and his family had rreal estate in NYC. Years later I was surprised when I read he bought the Meadowlands. I'm sure the days of big crowds are long gone. Except on Hambo day. I think they had 17,000 that day.
Friday night had one of the worst cards ever. Low-class horses, I mean non-competitive horses at cheap fairs, ship in and win. They handle $2.8 and give out less than $150,000 in a 14-card program. The NEW Meadowlands has arrived

Except on Hambo day. I think they had 17,000 that day.. Jeff Gural, a New York real estate developer and horse breeder, took over the operation of the Meadowlands Racetrack in December 2011 through a long-term lease agreement with the state of New Jersey.
There will never be a harness track that can hold a candle to the big m.. Mr gural is a hero for saving and keeping the big m going but has made one significant blunder recently by allowing englem to race instead of serving his time just like any small player has to do. Seems as if his promise to not allow him to race unless he was able to have his sentence waived, reduced or served was not honored. They are filling the box for 3 cards a week now without being held hostage by a huge barn operation. He’s either guilty or he’s not and all that I hear is that the finding has not changed and all appeal processes have expired.
